Lace |Edmonton Wedding Photographers

Just a couple of shots of Lisa in her lace trimmed veil at her wedding.  Lisa’s veil has lots of history, it was actually her mother’s veil re-imagined! Because this veil has lots of history I thought I would give my blog readers a little history on lacework 🙂

What we call  lace likely arose in the early sixteenth century.

The second half of the sixteenth century saw lacework quickly develop as an openwork fabric, created with a needle and single thread or with multiple threads.

Punto in Aria (stitches in the air), is the pretty open lacework, it evolved when embroiders began to work on parchment instead of fabric.

With the industrial revolution we began to see the machine made lace common today!

Because lacy trimmings and fabric are timeless we see it throughout history and today <3
