Lisa and I were so excited for the opportunity to travel to Canmore, Alberta for Don and Kerra’s June wedding! Visions of beautiful light playing off the mountain peaks and emerald waters filled our heads months prior to this event. We found we had to alter some of our plans when we drove into the thick dark clouds which completely obscured the mountains while listening to the flood warnings on the radio. We decided to start praying for no rain for the following day.
Don and Kerra’s wedding day dawned… quite dark and cloudy, but with no rain… instead we were greeted with huge white fluffy flakes!
For reference sake – there ARE mountains directly behind these trees…
The day started at Rapunzel’s Salon Spa with Kerra and her lovely bridesmaids. Despite the weather Kerra was radiant and super excited about getting married later that day.
After the salon we followed the girls back to their beautiful suite at The Grand Rockies in Canmore. This is where we caught our first glimpse of the gorgeous blush toned dresses Kerra had chosen for her bridesmaids. On a side note Kerra’s bridesmaids each had different dresses and tones. They all looked beautiful together and it complimented each of their individual personalities and body types!
Kerra and Don’s Ceremony took place at the Nordic Centre. The blizzard like conditions chased the wedding indoors, but the groom, Don, cheerfully laughed and commented that he “really wanted a winter wedding anyhow”!
We caught a break in the snow shortly after the ceremony and even got a peek at those gorgeous mountains that Canmore is famous for! Lisa and I were so thankful for cheerful umbrella holders not only for the bridal party, but also for us as we shot in the last of the snow and rain.
Kerra was good-natured about all the mud and allowed us to capture a few shots with the mountains in the background before we headed over to the Canmore Public Library and took a few pictures in the stacks. The staff were amazing, not only did they let us traipse all over their library but they took a few pictures of their own stating that we were “the first bridal party they had ever had in their library”.
After the library we headed back to The Grand Rockies to relax and have a drink before the party started!
While Lisa and I have worked together off and on over the past few years, this wedding marked the beginning of our official partnership and the launch of Life.Style Wedding Studio! As part of our full day wedding coverage we are excited to create and display a slideshow at your reception featuring images shot throughout the day. Here is the video slideshow that was displayed at Don and Kerra’s reception.
Thank you Don, Kerra, family, and friends for including us in your day. The love and support you have is unsurpassed and we look forward to watching your love continue to blossom!
